FAQ

What are your hours?
Our counselors work Monday – Thursdays , 9am – 8pm; Friday – Saturdays, 9am – Noon. Each counselor has a different schedule, some have evening and Saturday hours.  You will need to contact our office to see when each counselor has availability.

How do i get started?
Our phones are very busy! Please give us a call and if you get our voicemail, be sure to leave a message. Our Care Coordinators will get back to you within 24 hours, or you can pre-register here. New registrations are processed Monday – Thursday. If you register over the weekend, you will receive a call Monday morning.

How can I know what therapist is right for me?
Finding the right therapist is not always easy, but it’s very important!  Our staff will help you decide who we believe is best suited for you based upon the reasons you are seeking help, whether or not you want to use insurance, your availability and other considerations.  If you have any concerns that the therapist you see is not a great fit, our therapists do not take that personally and we will refer you to someone else either at Morning Star or to another practice, if necessary.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
You can expect to be scheduled within four weeks, depending on the location you would like to visit. However, if you need an evening or Saturday appointment, you may have to wait longer.

Do your therapists prescribe medication?
No, our therapists do not prescribe medication.

Is my counseling confidential?
We are committed to keeping everything about your treatment confidential.  In any counseling, there are exceptions to confidentiality that include the following:

  1. If you are a threat to yourself or someone else, in which we may need to involve other people or resources to ensure your safety or the safety of others.
  2. In the case of any suspicions of child abuse, which is required by law to be reported.
  3. A court order to release information.
  4. You authorize us to speak to anyone else about your treatment, which requires your signature on a release of information form.

Do you accept health insurance?
We accept Optum/United Healthcare, Quest Behavioral Health, Aetna, Preferred Healthcare, UPMC and most Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans (however we are not in network with Keystone Health Plan East). Not all therapists are paneled with insurance, please confirm with your health care provider our therapist is in network with your plan. Please call our office or your insurance company to verify you are in network with Morning Star Counseling. We also accept some EAP Plans, call our office to verify if we are in network with your EAP.

Morning Star Counseling will bill your insurance, however your copay is due at time of service.

Morning Star Counseling will quote your copay to you, however, this is not a guarantee of  your benefits or your coverage. Ultimately your insurance provider and your plan will determine your payment. Please reach out to your insurance provider directly for an accurate quote of your coverage.

If your insurance does not cover your sessions, you will be responsible for all balances accrued.

Our relationship is with you, not your insurance company. While the filing of insurance claims is a courtesy that we extend to our patients, all charges are your responsibility from the date the services are rendered.

What if I don’t have health insurance?
You can see any of our counselors using the fee schedule here.

Can I pay with credit card?
We accept all major credit cards (including HSA credit cards), CareCredit, checks and cash. Payment is due at time of service.

Please give our office at least 24 hours advance notice if you need to cancel your appointment, contact our office at 717.806.5050 and leave a message for our administrative staff.  Otherwise, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.
